Injustice is present by the advantage of race and superiority of people of power.
Injustice is a result from acceptation of policies that causes vulnerability to minorities.
Conclusion: People who are vulnerable in terms of race, gender and socioeconomics status are victims of injustice.
Injustice Scenario: A couple of months ago I went to Pink berry in Folsom the Palladio shopping center. And just a simply injustice situation occurred while waiting in line to order my yogurt and a white person was behind me and suddenly the employee takes his order instead of mine. Although, I was in front of the white person it didn’t matter I’m assuming. Yes I reacted with anger because I knew that power and racism was present in this injustice situation. In the end, this story connects to the argument because it shows us how whites have more power over any race. As well, it proves how certain races have favoritism with one race instead of all of us being equal. (word count 168).
Hello Maura,
I like the conclusion that your group has made. People who have less power in these conditions you group has mentioned is usually the victim of injustice.
In the two years of my study-abroad life in America, I also encountered something which is similar to yours. I was trying a get a drink at Jamba Juice a few months ago, and there was a lady cut my line and acted as nothing happened. I told her that I was in front, all she said was that “so what, I’m white. This is America.” I feel humiliated at that point. So I totally understand what you mean and what your experience is.

Maura, I hate that you had to go through that. It’s an awful feeling because its just so obvious why you’re being treated differently. I know this because I’ve been in your position before. Not necessarily with Pinkberry, but definitely with other establishments. I am curious to know, was the cashier also white? It saddens me to realize that racism is still a very real thing that is STILL alive in 2019. I’m sorry that you had to go through something so infuriating, but you handled it well! All we can do at this point is hope for a change in the future.

Your story, unfortunately, is common especially in other states outside of California. As Californians, we are fortunate enough to be more liberal and accepting of all then states like Georgia and Alabama. People all the time are in fact even refused service just because of how they look. This is not fair and should not be acceptable ANYWHERE.
Did you file a complaint? I think you should have brought this issue to the manager or owners of the store. As business owners or managers, they should better train their staff to purely serve each guest on a first come first serve basis. They also should be aware of this employee because they probably have done this before.
I have worked in customer service before and I had an unusual claim put on myself. As a cashier, we would have really long lines we were trained to take the next customer if one line got to busy. A white woman behind the person I called to my side of the line came up to me and asked me why did I not choose her to go first. I explained to her our policy and apologized. She then proceeded to call me racist because she had half black children. She later called the store and asked to speak to my manager and claimed I was racist. My manager didn’t even give it the time of day because of the ignorance of this claim. So hopefully for this employee’s sake, it was unintentional.
